Theatre

 

  • Simon was chosen to be part of the “Unheard Voices Recently Arrived” in 2008 by the Royal Court and a member of the Critical Mass Workshop of the Royal Court in 2010.

 

  • His play, Just the Two of Us, was short-listed into the top 300 plays in the Bruntwood Competition in 2008.

 

  • His play, Dim Sum and Chips, was short-listed for ‘Live Write 2007’ organized by the Birmingham Rep.

 

  • His play, Wolf in the House, was short-listed for the Gate’s Translation Award in 2006 and was included in the EAST showcase at the Soho Theatre in June 2008.

 

  • Caltex Youth Drama Award (1990)

 

  • Students’ Scriptwriting Competition award by HKU Drama Club and Express Daily (1985)

 

Film

 

  • He was shortlisted for iFeature, a very competitive feature film initiative funded by Creative England, BFI, BBC Films and Creative Skillset in 2014.

 

  • His short film, Merry-Go-Round, was awarded the Enfield Film Fund and was shown at the opening night of the Wood Green International Short Film Festival in April 2008 (and was later nominated the Best Local Short Film Award), at the MoDa Lecture Theatre at the Middlesex University in April 2008 and the National Film Theatre (NFT3) in June 2008.

 

  • Chosen to be part of the Channel 4 and Wrap X film project, BREAKOUT. His filmscript, Spirit Money, has reached the final stage of the competition.
